A vintage car hillclimb at Castle Hill: the makings of a perfect fall day

TOWN:Ipswich
WHAT:A hillclimb competition for pre-WWII vintage cars
WHY:Elegant setting, spirited cars, with food, drink and entertainment and breathtaking hilltop views

Those who race vintage sports cars are a special breed. They keep their faithful steeds in top running condition but are less concerned about pristine presentation. They care less about trophies and compete to recapture the thrill of the chase from years gone by.

Enter the Castle Hill Vintage Car Club Climb in Ipswich, part of the Vintage Sports Car Club’s annual schedule, tentatively held in November this year. Hillclimbs have a long history in car competition, and Castle Hill’s climb takes advantage of the long access road from the base of the hill through a number of sweeping corners with a thrilling finish at the top.

Over the years the Trustees have upped their game with entertainment, food and drink options that set a relaxed vibe, while surrounded by legendary car makes from years gone by. If you enjoy hearing the burble of old motors enthusiastically running through the gears while taking in sweeping views of Ipswich Bay, keep an eye out for updates for the event.
